Three Poems

by Tyler Sherwood Pruett

FOURTH OF JULY

1
Toting lord
Pamphlets
We fool
Stumble blindly
Into womb entrance

2
Seven peaks of Maximilian
Visits each woman
In turn

3
None knows the existence of the others

4
Mandarin squirt
Juice on newly pierced ears

5
Smooth out the pain with a Taser
The stars
Face forward
Regardless

GOD ONE

1
Baton assemblies
Thrash the soft
Skin behind her knee

2
There exists no tonic for removal

3
This city
State wherein patriotic
Grass

4
Grows sideways attracting
Tiny storms

5
Chain lightning
Gangsters

REFUTATION OF THE MULL

1
Blades brown with successive
Bolts

2
Your cloak of indifference catches
Aflame
With holy water

3
Liberty
Vicious
Lies Sri

4
The day to carry your own chairs
With portmanteau

5
It’s barely four o’clock
And shadows
Threaten to leave us
